2025 NFL Preseason Week 1 Betting Preview

The first week of the 2025 NFL Preseason is here. Last week we started with the 2025 Hall of Fame game. On Thursday, August 7, the preseason starts rolling when the Cincinnati Bengals head to Philadelphia to take on the defending champion Eagles. From Thursday to Sunday, every team in the NFL throws down in the first competition of the 2025 season. Cincinnati Bengals vs. Philadelphia Eagles

• When: Thursday, August 7th. 7:00 p.m.

• strong>NFL Preseason Week 1 Odds: Bengals -250 / Eagles +200

Neither squad will play their starters, but that shouldn’t keep us from betting on this game. This one can go either way. So we want to concentrate on the total, which is 37.5.

Both offenses have a chance of clicking since neither the Bengals nor the Eagles will take a chance on playing top defenders. The over looks like a decent play.

2025 NFL Week 1 Pick: Over 37.5

Washington Commanders vs. New England Patriots

• When: Friday, August 8th. 7:30 p.m.

• strong>NFL Preseason Week 1 Odds: Commanders +125 / Patriots -152

Both teams should contend for a playoff spot this season. New Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel will want to set the tone, meaning he’ll throw in some starters, so the Pats get the lead.

Expect the Commanders to sit on their hands. They can’t afford to risk playing Jayden Daniels or any of his top receivers, especially since Terry McLaurin is looking for a new home. If one of the other WRs suffers an injury, it’s over for D.C. Patriots squash the spread line.

2025 NFL Week 1 Pick: Patriots -2.5

New York Giants vs. Buffalo Bills

• When: Saturday, August 9th. 1:00 p.m.

• strong>NFL Preseason Week 1 Odds: Giants -125 / Bills +105

The Giants have said Russell Wilson is their man. No doubt, Wilson will get a few reps. The reason? Brian Daboll can’t take the chance of Russ not being comfortable under center.

The timing that Wilson shows with Tyrone Tracy Jr., the G-Men’s starting RB, is paramount to a successful NYG season. So unlike every other team in NFL Preseason Week 1, the Giants figure to play some of their top skill players for a series or two. Giants pull off the ML upset.

2025 NFL Week 1 Pick: Giants -125

Denver Broncos vs. San Francisco 49ers

• When: Saturday, August 9th. 8:30 p.m.

• strong>NFL Preseason Week 1 Odds: Broncos -270 / 49ers +210

Denver is the better team overall. Not only that, but Sean Payton’s system should rough up a 49ers’ D that wasn’t great in 2025 and doesn’t seem to have the depth it once did.

Payton will give plenty of reps to Jarrett Stidham and Sam Ehlinger. Both men are capable of piloting the Broncos to a few scores. Broncos -6 to over 34.5 is a decent parlay.

Miami Dolphins vs. Chicago Bears

• When: Sunday, August 10th. 1:00 p.m.

• strong>NFL Preseason Week 1 Odds: Broncos +119 / Bears -143

We know the Fins, but we don’t know the Bears. Chicago has a good offensive line, which is the reason Ben Johnson decided to take the reins.

The former Detroit offensive coordinator will, like Vrabel in New England, want to get the positive mojo going early. So expect Johnson to give his three QBs, after Caleb Williams, an opportunity to showcase their strengths. Bears -2.5 to over 33.5 is the play to make.
